Cardiac Imaging Services

The cardiovascular imaging subspecialists at MRL are devoted to diagnostic imaging and diagnosis of diseases of the heart and blood vessels (including the arteries and veins, and the lymphatics). They
Interpret cross sectional imaging studies of the heart and vascular system using CT or CAT scans and MRI.

Cardiac CTA (CCTA)

Coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) is a heart imaging test that helps determine plaque buildup in a patient's coronary arteries. Plaque is made of various substances which circulate in the blood. Fat, cholesterol and calcium make up plaque which deposit along the inner lining of the arteries, reducing or in some cases completely blocking blood flow.

Cardiac MRI

Cardiac MRI is a noninvasive procedure that creates both still and moving pictures of the heart and major blood vessels. Cardiac MRI allows physicians to observe the beating heart, its structure and function. These pictures help in the diagnosis and treatment of heart problems.

Cardiac MRI is used to diagnose and assess many diseases and conditions, including:

  • Coronary heart disease
  • Damage caused by a heart attack
  • Heart failure
  • Heart valve problems
  • Congenital (kon-JEN-ih-tal) heart defects (heart defects present at birth)
  • Pericarditis (a condition in which the membrane, or sac, around your heart is inflamed)
  • Cardiac tumors
